Coolest Rubber Ducky Kid Birthday Cake Ideas

Thanks to this site for kid birthday cake ideas, my daughter and I made this cake. We doubled a white cake (mix) recipe and baked it in an aluminum roasting pan. We lined the bottom of the pan with parchment paper and loved that this pan gave the cake a bath tub shape.

We melted and poured Merkins white chocolate into a rectangle-shaped container and once hardened we used an orange-peeler to ‘whittle’ the chocolate into a soap-bar.

The theme of the baby shower was rubber duckies which I happened to find on your site under kid birthday cake ideas. This two-tiered cake features a cute little rubber ducky on top taking a bath. Both tiers were iced with butter cream icing. Fondant bath bubbles adorn all layers of the cake.

Our daughter Michaela loves rubber duckies. I used a Wilton pan and a pound cake because it rose perfectly and kept all the detail of the pan. The round part is fondant colored blue (Wilton icing colors- in royal) and the bubbles and “soap” are white fondant. Very simple to make and what a hit it was at her party!

Thanks for all the wonderful kid birthday cake ideas on this site.

I got my idea for this cake from my daughter whose first word was “Duck”. This was for her second birthday party. We used a duck-shaped pan I borrowed from a friend but were afraid that there would not be enough cake so I made a sheet cake (the pond) to place the duck on.

My mother-in-law decorated the sheet cake with blue icing kind of ‘puckering’ it to look like waves and then green icing up the sides like weeds/grass.

The duck was simply yellow icing using a star tip.

It’s so fun coming up with your own kid birthday cake ideas and everybody loved the cake….especially Abby!

I made this duck cake for a friends baby shower. I used the Wilton duck cake pans and made the “star duck, coconut duck and duck mouse”; all of the directions can be found in the box.

Here are a few kid birthday cake ideas to help you: Freeze the duck cake before attempting to frost so that the cake does not crumble. Refill your icing bag often to prevent it from melting and keep the same consistency.

The duck mouse was so good, and the cake was a hit! I suggest making the coconut one; it looks the best and is by far the easiest to make.

My sister and I got the idea for this cake from a cake on the Woman’s Day website (they have a few good kid birthday cake ideas). They have a Water Park and Camping themed cakes and we used their idea for the water, which is just Berry Blue Jell-O and their idea for sand which is just graham crackers.

I bought two boxes of cake mix and made two sheet cakes. I trimmed, stacked, frosted them, and made a cut for the pond about 1-1/2″ deep in the top layer (it’s easier to cut if the top layer cake has been frozen for 2hrs). We then mixed two packets of the blue Jell-O with a total of 2 cups of water, placed the bowl in a bowl of ice water, stirred the Jell-O— just until it started to set, then we poured it into the pond.

We then applied the food processed – graham crackers, the rest of the decoration, and of course the duck candles. If I were to do it again, I would place the sand first, then pour the “water”. It went over well, big hit and just enough to feed 12 people.

I made this cake for a friend’s baby shower – the theme was rubber duckies. I used an oval cake pan and the 3-D duck pan from Wilton. The cake is covered in fondant and the soap and bubbles are made from fondant as well. It was a huge hit at the shower!!!

I used one half of the Wilton’s duck cake pan. I frosted it with canned frosting tinted yellow and put bubbles at the bottom with a tube of white decorator frosting. I used a blue M&M for the eye on top of white frosting. It was for my son’s 1st birthday.

After we decided on a Luau Ducky theme for our daughter’s first birthday I started scouring the net for kid birthday cake ideas. I wanted to make one myself instead of buying one at the store. I happened upon this site and saw all of the cute ideas.

Our local Hobby Lobby had the 3D Wilton duck pan so I bought that. I did 3 practice runs on the duck because I wasn’t sure how I wanted to decorate it but decided the star icing was the best presentation wise.

The base is made from a bar pan because I wanted something a bit larger than 9 x 13. I just covered it with blue for water the flowers to keep up with the luau theme and added some icing bubbles and her name. I made the icing flowers out of the drop flower and writing tips about 4 days in advance of the party so they could harden. I used those for the base cake decorations and the lei and flowers for the duck. The smaller cake was iced the same and I used a small duck candle for it.

My second daughter’s first animal word was duck and she quacks like a duck and seems to like ducks, hence, her first birthday cake! I bought the 3D Wilton duck pan from AC Moore for about $11.

The base of the cake is Duncan Hines white cake with vanilla icing and bubbles. The duck cake is Duncan Hines Lemon flavor with lemon-flavored icing. I added more yellow to the icing to get it brighter and more like a yellow duck.

My daughter loved the cake and loved putting her hands into it. The cake was really great fun to make and all enjoyed it. Always be sure it isn’t too hot or humid in your house otherwise the icing you worked so hard on will begin to fall off the cake!

Rubber Ducky Kid Birthday Cake Ideas

This is one of the easier kid birthday cake ideas to make. It’s simple in detail yet cute! You could use it for a 1st birthday Ducky theme party as your child’s personal cake or for a baby shower.

Size and shape can be changed to accommodate your special occasion. I just baked a cake from a box cake mix and then let cool. I then iced with blue tinted white icing (remember to save a little for the bubbles). Use a butter knife to ice with and make little wave “peaks” as you ice the top.

Sprinkle with blue crystal sprinkles and add your rubber ducky. Spoon white icing into Ziploc bag and snip off one corner slightly. Squeeze on bubbles of various sizes and voila! I hope my kid birthday cake ideas helped you!

Rubber Ducky Kid Birthday Cake Ideas

I looked for kid birthday cake ideas, and found this one. I had a rubber ducky party for my son’s first birthday and everyone loved this cake!

I used a blue beverage tub and set the box for the ducky cake pan in the bottom and put a cake board on top of that to support everything. I made a sheet cake and then cut it to fit the tub, frosted it blue for bathwater and then put the ducky cake on top and started decorating that.

I used M&M’s for the eyes and I used frosting to put bubbles in the tub and around the duck! We also used a little duck candle; it looked really cute!
