6 Homemade Snake Cakes and Lots of Ideas for Easy Cake Recipes

I searched through a lot of easy cake recipes until I found this one. Reptile Man came to the party bringing with him a huge snake amongst other creatures. I got the idea for the cake from this site and it worked like a dream. I made two chocolate chip bundt cakes using one of my easy cake recipes. I wanted the cake to fit on the board so instead of cutting the rings in half I cut them more like 2/3 and 1/3 so I could make the snake’s coils tighter.

Then I made some bright green buttercream icing, shaped the tail and head with a knife and covered the whole cake. We used M&Ms for the spots and craft eyes. The tongue was cut from strawberry fruit leather. It’s not the slightest bit realistic but it was a big hit. Thanks for the inspiration.

Homemade Snake Birthday Cake

My son has been asking for a snake cake for six months for his fourth birthday. My brother and I prepared the snake using an angel food pan. We baked two cakes from one of my easy cake recipes and pieced them together.

Using a star tip we iced the cake in the colors my son requested and added the tongue using a fruit roll up. We placed the cake on top of Easter grass to give it the appearance of slithering in the grass. It was a big hit my son and his friends loved it!

My husband and son had to make a cake for the annual “Fella Cake Bake” for our son’s Cub Scout pack meeting. After searching this web site for easy cake recipes they decided a snake cake was the best thing. They wanted to win the longest cake award.

They started by making two bundt cakes (one tinted green and one tinted red)., They quartered the cakes and put them together wrapping the tail in around itself. They shaped the tail and the head. Then they frosted.

Decorations were fruit leather, fruit shoelace licorice and gum drops. The “nest” was made with crushed Oreos with “eggs” (whoppers) and “baby” snakes (gummy worms). I am really proud of the two of them as they did this entire cake by themselves without any help from me and my house is still standing!

I got the idea for this cake from this web site for easy cake recipes. My son loves reptiles so this was a perfect idea. This snake has the colors of the Arizona Coral Snake. This cake is made from two bundt cakes.

I saw the snake cake idea here and knew it would be perfect for my friend because she’s crazy about the harmless red-sided garter snake (thamnophis sirtalis) which is commonly found at her mountain cabin.

I made two easy cake recipes for homemade chocolate bunt cakes and used prepared frosting. The tongue is fruit-by-the-foot, the eyes are black jelly beans and the stripes are mini M&M’s. I put it on a piece of plywood wrapped in foil.

The whole thing was fun and easy and such a hit! Everyone loved it. It tastes incredible too due to the fabulous cake recipe below.

Homemade Chocolate Cake – This moist from-scratch cake is mixed in one bowl and contains no egg. Ingredients: (double this for two cakes or make two individually) 3 cups all-purpose flour, 2 cups sugar, 1/3 cup baking cocoa, 2 teaspoons baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 cups water, 3/4 cup vegetable oil, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract and 2 teaspoons white vinegar.

DIRECTIONS: In a large mixing bowl combine the first five ingredients. Add the water, oil, vanilla and vinegar; mix well (batter will be thin) and pour into a well-greased bunt pan. Bake at 350° for 45-55 minutes.

Homemade Snake Birthday Cake

I made this cake for my son’s first birthday. We didn’t want to do a theme really so I made this snake cake. The cake was made out of two pound cakes cut in half. I used a basic pound cake made from one of my easy cake recipes. I used store bought white icing and colored it the desired color. I used gel icing that comes in a small tube to make the x.’s on the back. I used M&M’s for the nose, eyes and back decoration. The tongue was made out of fruit strings (any candy that can be pulled apart can make the tongue). Hope you enjoy.
