This Native American themed birthday cake is a cake that a friend requested for her mother that is an Native American Elder. She wanted a raspberry cake with maple sugar frosting. I got a recipe off line and used it to make the raspberry cake, I used real raspberries with recipe. With the frosting, I used real maple syrup a friend made and made it into a real nice butter cream.
I then whipped up another batch of raspberry butter cream and that is what I used for the flowers and vines. I love working with gum paste so I made some Eagle feathers and with the Dreamcatcher I made that with melted chocolate. I printed out a Dreamcatcher and I laid a wax paper over it and with the melted chocolate I just traced it with the chocolate. I let it cool in the fridge for a few hours.
I am a self taught decorator and these roses I made for this cake were the best ones I have ever done. When my friend’s husband came and picked it up, he couldn’t believe it was a real cake, he was so speechless and just floored on how beautiful it was. I also was told when it got to the party, my friend’s mother cried on how beautiful it was. I make my cakes with love and compassion. I love making people happy with my cakes.
