Nemo Cake

My 4 year old son is obsessed with Nemo and when it came to making his cake I had no worries when deciding what cake to make.

This Nemo cake turned out better than I thought as this was my my first novelty cake I had ever made. It is very easy to make, just bake 2 round cakes, cut the edge off one of the cakes, about 5cm wide (like a moon shape) then cut this into 3 equal pieces, then cut a triangle shape out of the same cake but cut the top of the triangle.

This is the tail, with the other cake trim up the bottom of the cake to make it a bit more of a fish body shape , then put the tail in place and with the other 3 pieces of cake. Take one of the corners and place it at the bottom of the cake as a fin then take the other corner and place it on top of the cake as a top front fin and then place the middle piece just behind it on the top as another fin, then cover with white fondant.

Colour some fondant orange and place stripes of orange fondant over the top where required and for the black stripes and eye I used liqourice strips, then place small silver sugar balls in rows over the tail and 1 silver ball in the eye and then you have a great Nemo cake.
