Sneaker Cake

My dad is in a group of guys that run every morning and they were all coming over for dinner so we thought it would be super fun to make a cake in the shape of a sneaker!

We chose his college school colors for the frosting. Here’s how we made the cake:

We used one 13 x 9 rectangle cake and 2 9″ circular cakes. We cut one of the circles in half and put one half at each end of the rectangle. Then we put the other round cake on top of the back of the cake (to make the part your foot would go in). We used 5 tubs of frosting. We iced the whole thing with whipped frosting. Then we died one tub of frosting blue and one yellow. We used the yellow to do the tongue and the blue to do the rest of the shoe. We used a star tip for the whole thing. We made the laces with shoe lace licorice and used small black licorice bites to accent it.

This was our very first cake making endeavor and we are so proud of the outcome!
