Yo Gabba Gabba Cake

I made this Yo Gabba Gabba cake for my daughter’s 2nd birthday. She LOVES the show, and Foofa is her favorite character. I’m actually quite proud of this cake, simply because I didn’t have all the proper tools and ended up improvising quite a bit because my big decorating box was MIA.

I had to use the tip meant for making roses to do the border of the cake, but it still came out okay. I had to pause an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba so that I could freehand Foofa’s face onto the cake – she came out a bit to “chinny”, but otherwise I’m pretty pleased with how she turned out!

To make Foofa’s face, I freehand drew it onto the cake, and then filled it with the star tip. I used a round tip to do the outlining, the eyes, nose, and mouth.

  1. I love this cake, its original and also would be a hit on a kids party. My granddaughter loves this show and her # 2 Birthday is coming up and I am going to make her this lovely cake. Thank you for sharing such cute cake.

  2. After you placed the mint green frosting did you draw the eyes and mouth or was it drawn on top of pink icing? Did you wait for each coating of icing to dry( get a little hard) before adding the face and features?

I will be making this cake for my little Emma(4) She picked your cake over any of the store bought ones…She insisted on having the green and pinky foofa! lol

Thank You For The Great Idea!

  3. I love this cake! It is something that I might actually be able to pull off and not have to spend an arm and leg. My question is, what are the stages of the icing? Did you do the green first? What about Foofa’s ice and bow? The whites of them? When did you do those and how? I am very beginner as you can probably tell.

    Thank you!

  4. It’s been a couple of years since your last comment, but you’re still inspiring! My four year old requested a Foofa cake for her birthday party this weekend. I think I’ll be using your photo as a template inspiration for my own cake. I love the green background! to get her face shape, I’m going to attempt to print out a drawing of her and then use a bit of piping gel to outline the face on wax paper, then turn it over on top of the cake. Hoping it turns out just as good as yours!!
