This Belle Cake is my first doll cake. I made Belle from Beauty and the Beast for my great-niece's 2nd birthday. I came up with the idea from other photos from different cake sights and Wilton books.
The sheet cake is a chocolate pound cake and the doll cake is a white pound cake died red. I used 2-6" round pans and a 6" glass bowl for the doll cake. I cut circles in the center of the round cakes to place the doll in. I used a Belle Barbie doll and wrapped her in shrink wrap before inserting her inside the doll cake.
The frosting is white chocolate butter cream. I used 4 cupcakes to make the stand for the magical rose and covered it with a simple, small, clear, drinking glass. The recipes I used came from the Wilton sight.
The Belle cake was a success. Everyone loved the look and the taste. I was very pleased with the outcome of this cake.
I used a Dolly Vardin tin for this Belle (Beauty and the Beast) Cake and covered the cake in butter cream icing. I then used fondant to make the bodice and also the skirt. I then did a smaller skirt to go over the top to neaten it all up. I had made the yellow flowers the day before and used them to decorate the dress and to cover the join at the back to look like buttons. I also made the rose a few days before so it would dry and then skewered it through the skirt to hold it in place in line with it looking like it was sitting in her hand.
I borrowed the crown and teapot/teacup from the little girl as she already had these. She was so excited when she saw the cake that it made it all worthwhile!

This Belle cake was made using the Wilton's wonder mold pan. Because I used an actual Belle Barbie, I also had to put a 8 inch cake under the wonder mold pan to cover all of her legs and hips. The ruffles on the bottom were made alternately using tips 16 and 18 to build up the ruffle border.
I crumb coated the entire cake, and then piped thick lines using tip 10 every inch to build up the dress and give it the flowy look. I then piped tip 16 swags all around the dress starting from the bottom and working up.
I covered her bodice with tip 16 stars and tip 104 sleeves. Tip 104 was also used to make the ribbon around her dress.
My daughter was turning 2 & was into princesses. She said she wanted a princess party so I decided to give her what she wanted and made her a Belle cake.
I made the dress out of a bundt cake pan & placed 2 cup cakes on top of each other in the hollow center. The bundt pan shape made for great ruffles. I simply frosted it white first, froze it, then added the yellow frosting & placed the flowers around.
It was actually very easy. I bought the "Belle" topper off the web. She was so excited when she saw it, which made me very happy!
I made this Belle cake using a bundt pan and a 9 inch round pan. Put the bundt cake on top on round cake. I frosted smooth then used stars to make dress. I bought a Belle barbie doll and stuck her right in the cake before decorating.
