Hot Pink & Zebra Nor Cal Cake

Hot Pink & Zebra Nor Cal Cake

I baked two boxes of vanilla cake mix in a large square pan. when cooled I made a template of the star and then I cut the cake to the shape of the "Nor Cal" star. I then made up hot pink frosting and covered the cake. I then baked sugar cookie and while they ere still warm from oven I cut them to make a star just a little smaller then the actual cake. I then place them on the cake leaving a border of pink all the way around. Then I colored the sugar cookie star going black and white over and over on each point. then I added the black lines over the white to give it the zebra look. this cake was made for an 18 year old girl and she loved it!!

Homemade Pink Black and White cake

by Vicki
(Inverness, Scotland)

Was just made out of two ordaniary cakes and one choclate one, just cut down to size. Icing was bought of the internet, and you just rolled it out to make your shapes, dot's were put on through an icing bag and just a little push with your fingers too flatten them. Bows were made in seprate pieces to make it alot easier, and just stuck next to each other. Love hearts were made with coookie cutters and the icing bag was used again for rhe numbering. Idea came from a photo online that we adapted to make our own, the one we got the idea from was shop made and very tricky so we just made it simpler but it was very effective. Everyone was amazed that we madeit ourselfs!

Homemade prom cake

by Rita
(Buckeye, AZ)

This cake was made for the local highschool prom who had a theme of the roaring 20's. My husband built me a stand to make sure it was fully supported with a center rod. Each layer is on its own piece of cardboard and is two layers thick with filling and then covered in fondant. The roses are made of fondant as is the string of pearls which I rolled, threaded, knotted the string and placed individually onto the necklace (that took forever!) there is even a clasp so you can wear it! You know how silly kids are and I figured one of them would do it.

Homemade Cake

by M <3 D
(Paramount, CA)

So my BF and I decided to have a Family guy themed Bday party for him, He doesn't like store bought Bday Cake so I decided to make him one. I decided to go with a 3 tier, with 3 different flavors, the top tier was Strawberry followed by Vanilla and finally Chocolate at the bottom. After Watching Family Guy almost everday Thought about making the stage that they sing on at the begining of every show as his cake. This is my end result. Oh yeah it was over 100 degrees in our house so the icing kept melting.

Quick Fondant Birthday Cake

Quick Fondant Birthday Cake

Quick Fondant Birthday Cake

I made this cake in an hour for a friend's birthday.

I just made two 9 inch round cakes, filled and frosted with a crumb coat.

Applied the fondant. Colored fondant yellow & blue...cut them into circles. Cut long strips for the "ribbon" and placed them on. The flower in the center is just a cheap flower I got from the craft store I stuck it in the center and called it a day!

Playing with the color scheme and shapes and adding REAL edible flowers this cake would be lovely.

A real QUICK cake when you're in a pinch!

Pink, Brown and White Cake

Erica's Shower

The cake is three layers. All three layers are cookies and cream with vanilla buttercream filling.

I made the fondant cut outs a couple of days in advance and they remained pliable because I did not use gum paste.

I used a home made marshmallow fondant recipe and some dye to make each color.

The only thing I would have done differently is put straws in the middle since it was slightly lopsided.

This is the second cake I have decorated since completing a class in AC Moore.
