Homemade Barbie Doll Cake

My daughter wanted a Barbie cake for her 5th birthday so I decided to make the cake 3-D. I bought a Barbie from the store that already had a premade plastic top on her. I made one sheet cake for the base. I used a bundt pan and a small pyrex bowl for the skirt part of the cake. All of my cakes were made with box cake mixes. I used store bought cake icing in white and strawberry. I used food coloring to get the purple color on the skirt and the strawberry icing for the rest of the skirt. I also used sugar sprinkles in purple to accent the dress and the sheet cake. I secured the cake with wooden Popsicle sticks between the layers. I wrapped the Barbie doll’s legs with saran wrap and cut a hole just big enough to put the Barbie in the cake. I think the finished product turned out really nice for my first try at a homemade cake! My daughter loved it and it tasted great!
