Coolest Topsy Turvy Birthday Cake

I made this Topsy Turvy Birthday Cake for my step-granddaughters birthday party that was a themed affair of black & silver.

I made the Madeira cakes of various flavours in advance and popped them in the freezer along with loads of butter cream so as to have only the assembly & creation to contend with a couple of days before the party.

Each cake was cut to shape and covered in the butter cream before the fondant icing layer. Each tier was doweled to support the next and the roses and bows were made in advance to dry out. Then I simply went wild with the design.

I had trawled the internet and leafed through my books by such awesome creators as Lindy Smith and Debbie Brown before I began my own interpretation of the Topsy Turvy cake.

The worst thing about making such a cake was the delivering that stressed me out big time BUT it arrived at the party venue safe and well.
