Easy Homemade Bear Head Cake

I started this bear cake by making a basic sponge cake and filling it with strawberry jam. Using a picture of a ‘Me to You’ bear I copied the face onto a piece of grease proof paper. I placed the grease proof paper onto the cake and using a sharp knife i cut around the template.

For the icing I used butter icing and mixed a blue and black together to make the basic grey colour. I covered the cake all over except leaving the bottom section for the nose. I then mixed the remaining grey butter icing with a bit more black colorant to make the different shade of grey for the bears mouth and nose area. I then used a blue butter icing to complete the nose.

For the patch and eyes I used black icing (I waited for the base icing to completely dry before adding the eyes and patch). To finish the cake off I used a baby pink icing to add a bow to the bears ear.
