Coolest Mr. Tumble Cake

I made this Mr. Tumble Cake for my friend’s daughter. The character is Mr Tumble, it is an English show featuring a clown who does Makaton sign language for special needs children.

This is an 8 inch round Victoria sponge cake with jam and butter cream covered with white sugar paste. I covered a 10 inch board with blue sugar paste and placed in centrally on the board, and trimmed both with yellow ribbon.

Then I modelled the figure using ball shapes for body, head and red nose and sausage shapes for arms and legs and used edible pens and sugar flair colours to paint on the details. I made lots and lots of mini cone shapes for his spiky hair and stuck then with edible glue. Then I used a number cutter for the 3 and large star plunger for the stars which I stuck in place with edible glue. And a sprinkle of edible glitter for extra sparkle!

Hope you like it?

  1. I’m looking at ideas for my daughter’s 3rd birthday cake and when she saw this she was very excited – I’m not sure my skills are good enough for this though!! It’s fantastic!!
