Coolest Pool Party Cake

This pool party cake was made for my cousin’s 9th birthday which happened to be a pool party! Olivia loves fondant so I knew I had to work that in for her. I believe the pan was a 9 x 13 rectangle and made with chocolate and vanilla layers, filled with butter cream frosting.

The entire cake was covered in white fondant. The pool shape matches the pool at their house, but of course you can customize that part. The pool water is piping gel and the border (green grass) is butter cream. The dolls that are in the cake can be found at any cake supply store, and even Michael’s. They are actually only made from the waist up, the rest is a toothpick shape.

With the leftover fondant from covering the cake, I dyed a few pieces to create bikinis for the girls. I also colored and shaped the pool toys (inner tubes and noodles). The trees and flowers in the corner are plastic pieces from other cakes I’ve made, but could easily have been created by hand.

The cake was a huge success and most importantly Olivia loved it!
