I used 1 box butter recipe cake mix, mixed according to directions and set aside. Then I made a homemade cake recipe to make the cake sturdier:
2 sticks salted butter
3 cups sugar – creamed together
6 eggs add 1 at a time
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1/2 pint sour cream – MIX ALL THESE INGREDIENTS WELL IN MIXER
3 cups cake flour added one cup at a time.
MIX BOTH BATTERS TOGETHER.
Spray each pan: 9 x 13, 9 x 9 square, and 9 inch round
Distribute batter evenly among pans in terms of depth of batter.
Bake at 325 degrees until toothpick comes out clean
Wrap NEW UNUSED skateboard with cakeboard foil and tape to bottom of skateboard
Place 9 x 13 and 9 x 9 cakes on board and cut off excess from sides. Cut round cake in half and place on ends of board. Use excess pieces from long cake to fill in any gaps.
Ice cake with buttercream frosting. Roll out 2 large packs of fondant to cover frosted cake. Use powdered sugar to “Flour your rolling pin and board” Carefully place fondant over cake and use fondant smoother to smooth fondant over cake, especially around edges and sides. Cut excess to level of the bottom of the skateboard. Mix cake gel coloring with a small amount of water and use small pastry brush to paint color onto fondant. Allow to dry for at least 4 hours. Use Piping and frosting tips to create flames and words. Mix darker food gel coloring with water for darker flames. Fill in words with white buttercream frosting. Place on cake board with frosting under skateboard wheels to keep from rolling. Use star tip to pipe around wheels and to attach small skateboard toys to cake board.
