Coolest Thomas the Train Cake

I made this Thomas the train cake for Ethan’s 4th birthday – he loved it! I used a train cake pan for Thomas (you can find this online for 10-12 dollars), then bread pans for the railcars. I cut the bread pan into the sizes I wanted for the railcars.

I made sure that the cakes were in the freezer for a while before I frosted them. After frosting, I filled the cars with mini marshmallows, pretzel rods, crushed Oreos, animal crackers and made a caboose. I set the entire cake up on a piece of wood covered in tin foil. I hot glued the black licorice down for the tracks. I used different colors of fluorescent food coloring to brighten it up.

For the wheels, I used small Oreos for the rail cars and gummy things for Thomas. I also used the pull-n-peel-em Twizzlers on Thomas for the lines and above the wheels.

It was really fun to make and didn’t really take that long.
