Homemade Pink & Green Princess Cake

I made this cake for my nieces 4th birthday party. The layers are 2-10″ and 2-6″ layer cakes-marble. They were filled with home made buttercream frosting. I leveled, split and filled each layer so that you have 4 layers of frosting in each tier.Only fill the layers about 1/8 inch thick. This makes for a more flavorful cake. I crumb coated the stacked layers before I covered them. I colored fondant with gel colors and draped the layers. The castle on the front was cut buy hand and detailed using a fondant tool. The “luster” petal dust was brushed on to give the sparkle effect. Colored royal icing and gum paste flowers accent and add contrast. I finished with a purchased tiara and wand. The cake was presented on a sturdy gold framed mirror with a poem for the birthday girl written on the glass in wet erase marker. Huge hit with kids and adults alike!
