Easy Homemade Train Cake Idea

This was meshing of many ideas I found.

I used one doctored cake mix (add 1/2 c sour cream, milk instead of water, and one small pack van pudding mix) baked in two loaf pans. (I actually made FOUR loaf pans because I was worried about messing up- and I am glad that I did. It was nice to have back up)

The train cars are just 1/3 section of the loaf pan stacked up twice. I did end up trimming off the top rounded parts of the cakes though. The engine is just a longer piece with only half doubled stacked.

The key to frosting the cakes is freezing the baked cake for 30-60 minutes and then frosting it with a “pre-layer”. this gets the crumbs and whatnot. Freeze again for another 30 minutes and frost one last time. I used a super basic p. sugar/butter/milk frosting and it was perfect.

You can decorate however you’d like!
