Coolest 6yr Old Fairy Cake

I am actually not that into baking as I work full day and don’t have that much time but one of my mom’s oldest friend’s asked me to do this fairy cake for her granddaughter. She sent me a picture of an idea of how she wanted the cake (very different to the one she eventually got). I cannot do thick icing, it just does not work for me, any flowers or leaves I do must be paper thin. Anyway after baking 3 cakes to get them high enough to fit the barbie doll and working through the night to get it finished, this was the final result.

I used a Moirs vanilla cake mix with a banana instant pudding. You just add 4 eggs, 1/2 cup oil and 1 cup water. Bake at 180C for +- 45 minutes, it makes the most delicious cake. You can sprinkle layers of cinnamon and sugar while pouring the mix into the tin, and it is quick and easy.

I used a wire frame with chiffon material stuck onto it for the wings. When that was dry I made a pattern with glue and sprinkled glitter onto it

She sent me a picture of her granddaughter’s face and that made it worth all the effort. She could not stop saying how beautiful it was and that she did not want her mom to cut it.
