Coolest Hula Bear Cake Design

This Homemade Hula Bear Cake Design was so much fun to make! I am surprising my niece for her 5th birthday. I used the Wilton Ballerina Bear pan and used their suggestion of making it into a Hula Bear instead.

I started by purchasing the already prepped fondant from ACMoore. I cut and prepared all flowers ahead of time while the cake was baking (I used Strawberry cake for fun pink color for niece’s birthday party. Next, I mixed all of the icing colors. I started with the edges of the cake in the teal blue. Next, I did the outline with a star tip around the bear. That was followed by all of the white areas.

Next, I filled in the bear with the stars (had to start and stop to cool icing bag in frig). The grass skirt had me nervous, but it was so much easier than I expected. I used tip #352 and just repeated. Last, I added the flowers using tweezers to avoid hitting the stars. I adhered them to the cake with a little icing underneath (especially for those around the cake). I went to the Wilton sight to see feedback on this idea and there was none. I would say it was easy, but time consuming (4 hours in total).

However, I couldn’t be happier with the results. Hope you enjoy!
