Coolest Lego Ninja Birthday Cake

I have never done an entire cake with fondant. Due to the cost of fondant, I figured I’d attempt to make my own since it wouldn’t upset me too much if I failed. I found a recipe using marshmallows and powdered sugar. I looked on-line and picked the photos of the cakes I thought I could emulate and WOW, it came out great. I was so proud and all of the 7 year olds LOVED this Lego Ninja Birthday Cake!

My son looked so happy. He said it was the best cake I’ve ever made. Adults were shocked I made it. I was shocked I made it! I used the new Duncan Hines Triple Chocolate cake mix: one 9 x 11 and one round. I found a chocolate ganache recipe on-line and used the ganache as the glue for the fondant. For Lego cakes with faces, it’s ALL about the eyebrows. If you can nail the eyebrows, you’ve got yourself a Lego face!

I knew I couldn’t draw the dragons that are on the Ninjas’ jackets, so I Googled “Happy Birthday” and “7” in Chinese and I wrote that on the cake. At least I hope that’s what it says! Luckily, I had to cut the cakes down in order to fit in the cake container I had. I say luckily because that gave me the cake I needed for the arms. For the hands, I simply rolled the fondant between my palms and then shaped it into a U.

It’s not as fancy as some of the cakes I saw on-line but everyone loved it, especially my son. I don’t know how I’m going to top that next year!
