Coolest Little Mermaid Cake

The Little Mermaid cake was strawberry with what was supposed to be white chocolate ganache filling. The ganache turned out poorly, strawberry cake was wonderful. This was my first time using the frozen buttercream transfer method.

Sebastian turned out best, but Flounder was cross-eyed and Ariel’s nose had issues. Still, the transfers worked well overall, even though I left off the backing since I didn’t want it to be so thick. I used overhead transparencies instead of waxed paper.

The designs stuck a little, so I may try waxed paper next time, maybe with the transparencies for increased rigidity. My daughter made the pink and white swirled candy shells from commercial molds and I placed those all along the side of the cake. The sea shell candies were a great hit with the kids and easy for my daughter to do.

Overall, a fun cake!
