Coolest Mickey Mouse Face Cake

My youngest daughter just loves Mickey Mouse so this Mickey Mouse Face Cake was the perfect cake for her 2nd birthday party. I wanted to make the cake large so it would feed all our friends and family.

The ears are 8″ rounds and the face is a circle cut out of the middle of two 9×13 sheet cakes put side by side. I made the flesh colored frosting by mixing 8 drops of yellow, 6 drops of red and 2 drops of green food coloring in a separate bowl and adding it a drop at a time to vanilla frosting until I got the right shade. (It took 5 cans of frosting so remember how many drops you used to keep the shade the same.)

I made a stencil of Mickey’s face out of heavy paper to cover the flesh colored areas and then dusted the remaining areas with Oreo cookies that I blended (remove the cookie frosting first). I made the smile by simply cutting into the cake (it’s chocolate cake underneath which kept the smile dark in color). The tongue is red sprinkles and the eyes are powered sugar, both applied using a stencil I made.

My daughter loved this cake and I was pleased with how it turned out. Dad’s can do cakes too! It’s a fun tradition I’ve started with both of my daughters.
