Coolest Toy Story 3 Cake

I got the idea for this Toy Story 3 Cake from Coolest Cakes but decided to add some details to it. This is the first cake I’ve tried my homemade marshmallow fondant recipe on and I have to say I love the taste. The floor for this cake, I tinted fondant, rolled it out flat and cut strips, then I lay each strip on the top of the cake. I took a small knife and make the wood look on the cake. Also, I mixed up some buttercream iciing to fill in the cracks between the “floor boards” to make it look more realistic. I smoothed the icing out, making sure each crack was filled.

For the toy box I covered a small piece of cake with fondant, used a knife to create the wood. Used strips of fondant to make the trim and lock. Woody and Buzz are toys I purchased. The frame for the bed is 4 swiss rolls, held together by icing. I made the matress by covering a piece of cake with white fondant and did the same for the pillow. The headboard and foot board is fondant, as are the boots, rope, rug and ball and etch-a-sketch.

Enjoy!
