Homemade Cars 1st Birthday Cake

So this Cake was for my Son’s first Birthday. It was my first time ever making and decorating a cake by myself. It is very small as you can see,it is setting on a regular size dinner plate.I wanted to make a cake just for him to get messy in. I set the whole thing in front of him and just let him go at it.It was great. I also purchased a store bought one for the rest of the guests.

1: I used yellow cake mix in a 8inch round cake pan.I also made 1 cupcake.

2:I frosted it all with white frosting.

3:I had Iceing in a spray can in Black which I used to make the road. It came with four tips and had directions on the side of the can for how to use each tip.

4:I cut the uniced cupcake top off so it could be placed on its side and decorated like a tire. For the tire letters I took a seringe( the ones they give you for liquid medican for infants)And shoved iceing in it which is a really messy job,and just kinda piped it on.

5:On the green “Grass” area’s I just dropped food coloring on it and swirled it around with a spoon. For that grassy effect.

6:I finished up with “Star” pattern around the sides and the candle which I purchased from Walmart.

Hope this helps someone!
