Homemade Spongebob Cake

This cake was for my friend who’s favorite cartoon character is Spongebob. I was frosting 5 other cakes that night, so I needed a Spongebob cake that wasn’t too complicated. I decided to made just the body, so I wouldn’t have to worry about arms or legs and the cake came out adorable!

I baked a yellow cake in a 9×13″ pan.

Then I frosted the top 3/4 of the cake with yellow frosting and the rest of it with brown. I used white fondant for the shirt and collar, the white parts of the eyes, and the teeth.

I used scissors to cut out his tie and mouth from a red fruit rollup.

When I got to the eyebrows I realized I had forgotten to buy something for that, so I used pieces of the top of an extra chocolate cake for the eyelashes and the stitches on his pants. I would suggest using black licorice string for the eyelashes though and black fondant for the stitches.

The blue parts of his eyes were balls of blue fondant flattened and the dark part was also chocolate cake (I would use black fondant for that too). And last but not least, a little blob of yellow fondant that I turned up at the tip for a very cute little nose!
