This cake was built for friend’s birthday. It measured 19″ long, 8″ for the captains deck, and 4″ everywhere else. The top of the crow’s nest peaked at 25″. I baked four white and four chocolate (to give the checkered appearance and variety when cut) 9×13 cakes that were stacked and carved. The base is rice crispy treat measuring 24×36 inches. The “water” is poured sugar tinted with blue coloring. In the water went gummi sharks and fish as well as extra lego guys, treasure and chocolate coins. This cake is almost entirely edible, save the sails, masts, and lego guys.
Just showed Hansie the boat, and now he’s demanding to stare at it!! So I have to make this quick-AWESOME JOB ON THE SHIP!!! I’ll have to hire Auntie Chris for the boys’ birthdays next year!…BTW the sugar high you gave them just wore off!
