The Very Hungry Caterpillar Cake

I made The Very Hungry Caterpillar cake for my grandson’s 1st birthday. He has loved the book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle since he was an infant. I took a cake decorating class last year but wasn’t sure I could pull this off. It turned out great!

I used 1-1/2 bundt cakes, and 2 shades of green dye to make the stripes(one was green only and the other was green dye mixed with blue). I used red and yellow dye for the face and flat lollipops for the eyes. Then I used squiggle candles for the feelers. I put yellow paper over a cake pan and wrote Happy Birthday with red icing.
