Coolest Ladybug Birthday Cake

I made a Ladybug Birthday Cake using a rectangular pan and circular pan. I iced the rectangular cake as baked using leaf green colored icing and a flower tip/icing bag because it looks cleaner than just spreading the icing on. I cut the circle cake into the shape of a heart and scaled it to the size I wanted for it to sit on the rectangular cake.

After cutting out the heart, I cut the heart cake in half through the middle so I could have two hearts. I placed those hearts on the rectangular green cake, and iced these two heart cakes using red icing dye and the same flower tip/icing bag. I used an Oreo cookie, removed the icing and used them as the heads on the ladybugs, then used a little icing to stick green M&M’s to the Oreos for eyes, then I used black sparkle icing gel (in a pencil type plastic) to draw straight lines to form wings, and then used brown M$M’s for spots.

The antennae were cut gummy worms dipped in the black gel, stuck in the fridge to set, and used toothpicks to attach them into the cake. I used the rest of the gummy worms as a rope border around the cake. I bought all materials at my local Wal-mart.
