I made this beautiful I Love Lucy cake for a coworker’s mother. She had asked me to make her some kind of I Love Lucy cake (she suggested just the heart). I came up with this cake and made it extra special because I know how much her mother means to her.
Now starting from the top down I will tel you how I made the cake. I made the TV using white fondant with a black trim. I used a print out from the computer for the I Love Lucy screen. Then I used a 7″ round cake pan for the top tier of the cake, covered it in black fondant with white polka dots. I wanted this tier to represent Lucy’s dress.
The bottom tier was made with a 9″ round cake pan, covered in white fondant. I took a piece of white rolled out fondant and draped it across the front of the cake to make it look like Lucy’s apron. I then rolled out a long ribbon of white fondant and tied it around the cake like apron strings. All of the red trim and the heart on the apron were made with red royal icing. I made a vitameatavegamin bottle out of fondant and then covered in green chocolate and put a label on it. I also made the infamous candy belt.
