Coolest Ariel & Friends Birthday Cake

Instead of making Ariel in the cake with the cake being her big ball gown, I decided to switch things up a bit and draw on her fins.

For starters I used 2 cake mixes, followed the directions for mixing. Poured in a bundt cake pan (round pan with a hole in the middle), cooked almost double the time the box said to due to making such a big cake. Once baked I put in the fridge to cool completely.

I put Ariel’s leg in the hole, bent backward cos she was too tall to just stand in along. Then I frosted the cake with a thing layer of purple frosting, put back into the fridge to cool/harden the icing for the next layer to go on smooth.

Second layer of frosting went on, made the fins first with glitter gels frosting I found at Walmart. Stuck her friends. Used glitter gels to write my daughter’s name and to do the star fish, and shell decorations.

Made rice cripy treats by following the original recipe. Made with corn flakes to add more texture. Colored pink before mixing in the corn flakes. Put in fridge to cool. Cut out shell shape and outlined with glitter gel. Stuck onto back of cake with tooth picks.

My daughter LOVED her Ariel & Friends Birthday Cake and all our guests complemented it as well. Easy, fun and a nice twist to the Barbie ball gown cakes you normally see.
