Cool Homemade Butterfly Birthday Cake for a 60th Birthday

I made this Butterfly Birthday Cake for my mother-in-law’s 60th birthday. I made the chocolate cake using a cake mix. I added nuts and fruits to the cake batter to make a rich Chocolate cake. This was the first time I tried icing. I applied chocolate frosting to the round cake that I baked, cut it and assembled it like a butterfly.

I added yellow food coloring to the icing (I bought whipped cream powder and used it). I bordered the butterfly cake with yellow icing using a star tip and placed silver balls on them. I grated the almonds and added green food coloring to the flakes. I sprinkled the flakes inside the borders and arranged pink Cadbury gems to make the wings attractive. I placed a chocolate roll at the center. I made the antenna with two wires (the wires are not edible) and tucked them into the roll.

My mother-in-law loved it and did not feel like cutting it.
