My friend had asked me to make a cake for his cornhole party. I wasnt really sure what cornhole was and so I searched the internet trying to find other cornhole cakes for inspiration but could not find any so I just made up my own version from pictures I had seen of the cornhole game.

I made two 9×13 vanilla cakes and filled them with chocolate mousse. I let it set up in the fridge so it would be easier to cut the hole out of the cake. Once the hole was cut, I iced the inside of the hole with black butter cream and iced the rest of the cake white. I drew lines where I wanted the stripes to be as a guide for piping. I piped the entire cake in tip #18 blue and white stars. I piped grass around the entire cake with a grass tip.

I made the beanbags out of colored chocolate with a square candy mold I bought at a candy supply store. Once the cake was set, I applied the chocolate bean bags and beer cans. I should mention that I emptied the beer cans by puncturing a hole in the bottom of the can so when it was on the cake they looked full.

I had a lot of fun working on this cake. There isn’t anything that I would do differently on it. I put a lot of thought into the making of this cake before I got started so the whole process went smoothly.

Everyone at the party was amazed how realistic it looked and they all LOVED it!
