Pretty Homemade Princess Barbie Cake

I made 2x20cm sponge cakes in a pudding bowl cake for this Princess Barbie cake. I layered the cakes with homemade chocolate fudge icing and then covered them in vanilla buttercream. I then removed Barbie’s legs and wrapped what was left in cling film and then inserted a skewer into her and stuck this into the cake.

I made 2 kilos of pink, raspberry flavoured MMF and made her bodice and skirt out of this. I pleated and folded the icing as I put the skirt on to make it look like folds in fabric. I also made marks across her bodice and front panel of her skirt to look like quilting.

I then made lots of bows and flowers which I cut out with a patchwork cutter from another set and decorated her dress with these. I also made a tiara for her. I finished off the cake with a white banner which I made from sugarpaste and piped on the greeting and also piped centres for all the flowers and to emphasize the quilting, and around her tiara to look like pearls.

The candles were put into the leftover marshmallows around the cake.
