I made this Sock Monkey birthday cake because my grandson had a favorite Sock Monkey. I made a triple round layer cake with lemon filling. A 15 inch round I believe, but that’s a lot of cake. I like to make everything big as I can. Is more fun that way.
Then smooth iced it with white icing. Used a fondant stripe on the cake and candy dots and m&m’s for decore. Really whatever you prefer. Then I used rice krispie treats, which I use a lot.
For the Sock Monkey, just made his body, flat on the body then put a small dowel through his bottom for stability on the cake. Covered him with white and green fondant, because his favorite monkey is green. Made arms and legs and covered in fondant and made his face with fondant.
Very simple and was the hit of the party. He loved it and so did everyone else.
