Coolest Sponge Bob Birthday Cake

I made this homemade Sponge Bob birthday cake for my nephews 6th Birthday. He loves Sponge Bob, and I want to surprise him with it. His party is tomorrow. :) Hope he likes it.

I used one box of yellow cake mix, homemade buttercream frosting, and a can of chocolate icing.

I just baked my cake in an 8×11 pan. Placed in freezer for 20 minutes. I sliced my cake in half, iced the middle piece with chocolate icing, and placed the top of the cake back on. And then decorated. I added the yellow icing first, then outlined for the shirt and pants. I then added the white for the shirt, and the chocolate for the shorts. I then did the outline in black with a medium round tip on my bag.

After I did the tie, I scraped off the white and black icing that was in the middle of the outline, and then added my red (well, it was supposed to be red, turned out pink). Then I did the face with the same black icing and tip and filled the rest in. I left off the spots to make it look more spongy, only because I didn’t know what to use. :)

ButterCream Frosting recipe:

Two 3/4 sticks of unsalted butter

Bag (32 ounces) of confections sugar

2 Tablespoons milk

2 teaspoons vanilla

Make sure the butter is soft, beat with mixer till fluffy. Sift in confections sugar. Beat. Add a tiny bit of milk at a time to get consistency you want, add vanilla. Very easy.
