I made this Strawberry Shortcake for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. The tiers are 6 and 10 inches, 2 layers each. The cakes are frosted in strawberry flavored buttercream and draped in pink marshmallow fondant (Marshmallow fondant tastes better than Wilton fondant and is easy to make).
I made the pink swirls on the bottom layer with buttercream. I cut out the strawberries from fondant using a small heart cookie cutter. I drew seeds on them with a black edible marker. I attached them to the cake with buttercream and added buttercream leaves. I made the ladybugs from fondant and attached them, adding buttercream antennae, and edible marker spots.
The flowers are fondant with buttercream dots in the center. The green dots on the top layer are buttercream. The top and bottom borders are fondant.
The dolls were purchased off of eBay and attached to the cake with wooden skewers.
