I got my idea for this particular Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Cake from THIS website. I viewed other people’s ideas and morphed them together for my own. My daughter wanted a Strawberry Shortcake Theme for her party so I decided to make a 3 layered round cake with the colors Red, Pink, and Lime Green.
I used a 9 inch, 8 inch, and 6 inch round cake pan to bake my layers. I also used fondant for the FIRST time for the cut outs and balls. I got a great marshmallow recipe for making and using fondant via Google!
The bottom layer I covered with White Buttercream Icing and did the pink piping. The strawberry is a fondant cut-out of a heart with green piping.
The middle layer is also covered with White Buttercream Icing and used fondant cut-outs of different colors for the striping.
The top layer is covered in Pink Buttercream Icing and I used red fondant cut-outs for the circles.
I covered the top of each layer with fondant and also used the fondant for the balls around the layers.
This cake not only turned out better than expected but it taste GREAT! The party went great and the cake was a HIT!
