Coolest Toy Story Birthday Cake Design

This Homemade Toy Story Birthday Cake Design was originally supposed to be a Phineas and Ferb themed cake, but we lost the figurines two days before my son’s 3rd birthday. It is just pure luck that my son is also obsessed with Toy Story.

I coloured and made all the icing two days before the actual birthday. Made a basic Sponge cake with a plain cream filling (figured the cake would be sweet enough with all the icing). Store bought fondant that I coloured at home.

The grass around the edges and between the trees are just butter icing with coconut and colouring. Clouds and green trees are fondant. Used mini marshmallows dipped in chocolate or even chocolate icing and just placed them around the cake.

Used a muffin cutter to ‘shape’ the tops of the trees and then ‘glued’ them to the cake with royal icing (just mixed icing sugar and water, didn’t use egg whites like a lot of recipes call for)

Red apples,Yellow writing and my version of white clouds were done with store bought icing pens. Toys were bought at local toy store and My son will thoroughly enjoy playing with them afterwards. I haven’t figured out where I’m putting the ‘3’ candle yet.

It took me a total of 2 hours to fully decorate the entire cake. Forgot to mention that I used an apricot glaze before applying the fondant. My back feels broken, but that is also because I’m 8 months pregnant. The cake is worth the pain though. I think that’s all.
