Coolest Wipeout Obstacles Cake

This Wipeout Obstacles Cake was a huge challenge and requested by a friend of mine for his 3 year old!, yes 3 yr old who loves this show. I started the night before by baking the cakes and freezing them. I made the obstacles from rice krispie treats and covered them with fondant. I always put together a quick drawing of any of the themed cakes I am creating to design the layout. This cake was an added challenge due to the complexity of the obstacles and because it was filled with vanilla pudding.

I baked a 10×15 cake, froze it and cut it through the middle to add the pudding. I added a rim of icing around the edge to prevent the pudding from pushing out of the sides. I made the pudding earlier into the day and let it sit for over 2 hours. After flipping the top iece back onto the cake I started to ice it with regular, not whipped icing. Next, I started to add the obstacles and water and mud pools. Lastly I added the tressle arch with the personalized sign for the little boy, Ryan. I used pipe cleaners and popcicles sticks to create the tressle and a laminated printout from the show’s website.

The cake held up for several days before it was presented and enjoyed. Good Luck!!
