Here is a cake I made for a 2 year old that took me about 5 hours.
I used 2 Betty Crocker box cakes and poured the batter into a 15' by 11' rectangle pan. I let the cake cool overnight. I then used my cake cutter and cut the cake inhalf, length wise. I used chocolate frosting in the centre of the cake as a filling. Then I put the top half of the cake back ontop of the bottom half. I used homemade butter cream icing to frost the top of the cake in a light blue colour. I found some pictures of Caillou and his friends off the internet and just traced them onto some paper. I then piped the outline of each character using piping gel and tip # 1. Then I transfered the characters onto the centre of the cake. I then outlined the characters with black frsting using tip 1 again. Then I used tips 14 and 16 to fill in the characters with their specific colours. I used tip 21 for the shell border around the top and bottom of the cake. I also added some stars around the sides of the cake using tip # 16. For the words, I used tip # 3 in black buttercream icing, then added stars around the letters using tip 16. Lastly I added some chocolate sprinkles that I purchased at Bulk Barn.
I made this Caillou Birthday Cake for my son's 3rd birthday this year, he is enamored with Caillou!
This is a layered 9" white cake. I used professionally made buttercream frosting, because I can never get it smooth enough. I used store-bought colored frosting for the decorations. I just kept it simple and drew Caillou's face and ear (though the ear is too close to his face, here, really). Then around the sides, I drew his collar, and wrote Happy Birthday!
To make his cheeks rosy, I dipped a gloved finger in water and put a little pink (made with white and red frosting together, same as I used for his mouth) frosting dab on the cake where his cheeks were. I used the wet gloved finger to blush his cheeks, in a circular motion. Do not use too much red frosting here or he'll look like a clown!
After I was done with it all, I put our birthday party hat on Caillou's head, and voila! Caillou is here to celebrate with us!
For our daughter's third birthday we baked a cake and my husband decorated Caillou on the cake. This was the fastest cake we have done, most of the time we do a two layer cake and cut out the object but this cake we didn't have that kind of time.
This Caillou Birthday Cake took about 4 hours to make. We mixed several colors for the cake. He cut into the cake an outline, then he used a knife and put each color on the cake then it was outlined in black.
I made this Homemade Caillou Birthday Cake for my daughter's second birthday. I don't think it's the greatest cake or anything, but at least she recognized what I was shooting for. Its a confetti cake, double ten inch round pans with vanilla icing. I used Wilton Ivory gel tint for his face and giant star sprinkles that came in primary colors for decoration around it. My husband traced the shape of Caillou with a knife and I colored it in.
