Barbie Cake
First I found the most perfect Barbie for my sister in law because she loves fairies! This is a Mariposa Barbie but her wings were so beautiful I thought she would pass for a "fairy"!
I used my standing mixer bowl and filled it with 3 cake mixes. I wasn't prepared that the cake would take almost 2hrs to bake! (I have read elsewhere that pampered chef has a good bowl that many have used for the skirt of a Barbie cake!) I cut a hole for Barbie and wrapped her legs in saran wrap and stuck her in the cake. I then piped her back and parts of her side in chocolate with a #67 tip in horizontal rows.
For the front of the gown I spread pink frosting with a spatula and then followed with piped white in a random pattern. I found dove "bridal" candies and stuck them on the front separating the pink from the purple. The purple is piped w/ #16 star tip and again in a horizontal pattern. The purple and chocolate are separated with a pink beaded necklace cut to size.
I then used fake silk flowers that I added a rhinestone brad in the middle (thanks scrapbook supplies!) to jazz up the purple sides!
