Homemade Ben 10 Cake

Homemade Ben 10 Cake

As Ben 10 is the coolest boy thing at the moment of course Devon wanted a Ben 10 cake! The cake is a light death by chocolate cake with intense chocolate icing, for the boy who would have chocolate for breakfast if he could. Any cake would be fine, as long as you like making it. He wanted the cool picture on the front of the 2009 Ben 10 Annual.

I used baking paper to trace the image so I had practice in the drawing proportions, then enlarged the image using a photocopier to get the size I wanted. I piped the black icing using a 00 nozzle. After doing the outline, I filled in the gaps using icing sugar and appropriate colour mixtures. I used yellow and green sparkle gel for the effect of the Omnitrix.

It was a fun cake to do, and I loved the gel to work with (very forgiving). Enjoy what ever cake you do, because its meant to be fun to bake and even more to eat!

BAKING PAPER?
by: Anonymous

Wow that is such a cool cake!! just wondering (I'm new at this) when you say you copied the image onto baking paper, then what? Do you put the icing on top of the baking paper and take it off some how at the end? Sorry for the dumb question!! I have only made one other cake and I did it on rice paper that was supposed to disintegrate once iced. It did not disintegrate at all.
