Homemade First Birthday Cake
I made this first birthday cake for my friend's daughter's 1st birthday. She wanted a no. 1 shaped cake decorated with flowers and butterflies and I managed to find one exactly as she wanted it on-line. I'd never made a shaped cake before so I was a bit nervous.
So I made the no. 1 shape by baking two oblong shaped cakes and then I cut them up and built them into a no. 1 shape. I then covered the cake with vanilla buttercream and ivory coloured sugarpaste, and then decorated it.
Everyone loved it! I'm looking forward to my next challenge now!
