I made this Packer Super Bowl Cake to celebrate the Packers playing in the 2011 Super Bowl. I started with two 9 x 13 cakes. I placed the first cake on a large cake board. Then I cut the second cake and arranged the pieces to fill out the rest of the cake board. This became the "Football field." I then froze the field (or as we say in Wisconsin, "frozen tundra.") It is easier to frost a frozen cake. I baked a third cake in a football helmet shaped pan. I frosted the helmet in two colors, then added the green accents.
To make the G, I cut out stencil shapes of the oval and the G. Using edible colored spray, I sprayed on the oval shape. When that was dry, I placed the G over it and sprinkled powdered sugar and flavored gold sprinkles. I carefully removed the stencil to maintain the Packer symbol. Then I placed the helmet cake in the freezer and brought up the football field. I frosted the entire field in green and made goal posts out of toothpicks. I used a spatula to lift and place the frozen helmet on the top of the football field. I added chocolate shaped footballs along the border. Go Packers!
I took regular boxed white cake mix and raspberry jam (as the filling) and used a cream cheese frosting tinted to the right colors for this Falcon's Football Cake. For the football, I used rice crispy treat covered in dark chocolate, and for the "dirt" I used crushed Oreo cookie crumbles. I had a hard time with the red icing looking dark enough, so I had to get Wilton's gel base to add to the frosting.
I got the image of the Falcon from a children's washable tattoo that we received from the NFL team as a stuffer for the goody bags. His whole party was "Tailgate" themed from grilling hot dogs, to the prizes, goody bags and even the games. At the end of the day, each child posed in front of a giant inflatable Falcon Football player and a link of the photo was sent to each child's parent thanking them for attending the party.
I made this with a 13x9 inch pan and cake mix. Once cool, cut the cake into football shape. This can be done freehand or you can draw the correct shape on paper and cut around it. I decorated it with store bought chocolate frosting. The lines are made with white decorating gel as is the blue "Go Colts." Usually I spend a lot of time and money on cake decorating, but this cake was quick and simple and requires few ingredients or decorations.
I made this football stadium cake for my husband's 35th birthday, he is a big Colts fan. So I decided to create him the full experience of being at the game with players on the field, trees, parking lot with the cars and even a tailgator.
I made the stadium cake using a stadium cake pan and the parking lot was made using a sheet cake pan. I also used fondant and buttercreme icing to decorate the cake.
