Coolest Horse Graduation Cake

I made this homemade horse graduation cake for my sister’s graduation from middle school. I first used 1 yellow cake mix and baked it in a 9 by 13 inch pan. then I looked at horse cakes online and traced one of them, then cut it out so I would have a template to use for my cake.

I made the cake by just forming fondant into a flat fat teardrop type shape and put it in the freezer. After the cake cooled for 20 minutes I iced it in the fridge and colored the fondant with dark brown food coloring and the mane with black food coloring. I cut the mane out by just cutting random triangles. I used a toothpick to to mark the mane and make it look like it was hair.

The ear was a triangle put into the freezer. I made the eye out of white fondant painted black then I put icing on the other half of the eye to make it look whiter. The bridle was made out of black fondant and the ring on the bridle was fondant with pearl dust. It took awhile but in the end it turned out great. The best part is I am only 11 and made this cake for my sister all by myself!!
