Coolest Monster Truck Dirt Cake Design

My oldest son wanted a Monster Truck Dirt Cake Design and after looking at various Bakeries, I decided to make my own. I did some research online, looked at some pictures and got some ideas from friends and family and we came up with a wonderful cake that all of the kids LOVED.

I started with 2 13″ chocolate cakes, one placed vertical and the other was placed horizontal touching in a L shape, I knew it needed to be very “hilly” so I used 3 tubs of chocolate icing. I covered the whole cake with “dirt” that I made from crumbled chocolate cookies and the mud pit was chocolate pudding.

With the cake that was cut out to make the mud pit, I used them to outline the small lake, which was made from white icing with blue food coloring. I had brought hot wheel Monster Trucks from the store and I placed them in various positions on the cake. The hardest part I encountered when making this cake was the fact that it was 100 degrees outside and my kids were camping at the Lake. I made everything the night before, placed it in a cooler, and then took it up to the lake the day of his party and put it together on a picnic table.

This is a very simple idea, inexpensive and is sure to impress any child, and some adults as well. The Flag came in the truck packages so I used them to decorate the cardboard I used to place the cake on.
