This is a real girls birthday cake. I took two 9″ round cakes and put them together, cutting the bottom flat and shaping the sides a bit more. I used buttercream and fondant accents for the flap, button, flowers and handle. The cake was a big hit!

This girls birthday cake is two chocolate 9″ cakes cut off one end and turned upright. I frosted with buttercream, let cool then with brown colored fondant covered the cake. I used the fondant embossing set to make the zipper imprint but the zipper pull took some time, patience and a little skill. The LV logo I painted on with glitter dust.

I stacked two loaf cakes with frosting. I froze the cake for a little bit then carved top to look more like a purse. The make up and flap on purse is Now and Later candy. Soften for five seconds in microwave and mold to shape. Fun and Easy!

My daughter requested a pink cake, no preference as to what, just pink girls birthday cake, for her ninth birthday. She is into the makeup thing and loves purses so we thought of a purse. We made two 9×12 cakes, one chocolate and one fun confetti. Cut them in half length wise then stacked them on top of one another alternating. I shaved a little off the sides to make the shape.
The handle and outline seams we used red licorice pull a parts. We used skittles to make a couple of flowers on the front. On the top put #9 on each side and then tossed nerds on it to look like sparkles. It was frosted with strawberry frosting. It was a hit, everyone loved it. And my husband and I had fun making it. We are going to start making our children’s cakes from now on. All in all it was pretty easy.
My mom loves her Coach purse so I decided to decorate a Coach Purse cake for her birthday. Of course the colors are not “typical” Coach Colors but I like to put my spin on things. I started out with a Wilton purse shaped baking pan. First I iced the sides and inside the purse handle with white icing. Then I piped on outline in the appropriate colors using tip #3. I then used star tip #16 and made the C’s in lavender. I filled in the rest of the purse using a pink coloring and the star tip #16. I used tip #12 to do the purse handle in lavender. The fingernail polish, key chain and key were all made out of fondant.

I made this girls birthday cake out of two rectangle pans, cut them in half then carved them down in the shape of a hand bag. Straps are made from fondant. The Gucci symbols are fondant as well as the leather look on the cake. I used the pearl dust to shimmer for glitter color. It was made for my niece’s birthday!
I made this girls birthday cake for a friend’s daughter’s 24th birthday party. She works in fashion so I thought the purse would be perfect for her. Her only request had been a “fun fetti” cake so indeed that was what was inside. I just made a stack of layers ever narrower. I froze it and carved it evenly and coated it with butter cream. I got the photos of the real Birkin bags on line, drew some patterns on brown paper and cut them out of the fondant.
The hardware was made from fondant ahead of time and dried then painted with gold food coloring. I used some wire and picks for the handles. A fun project and very rewarding to see the birthday girl so happy!
My idea for this cake came from my sister birthday. She just loves any type of purse. Even though I used six 10×13 cake pans I am sure that that size does not always have to be used.
I carved the cake by cutting the sides on a rounded angle so that it looked like it was full of a lot of stuff. I decorated it with a basket weave pattern and added fondant sides and fondant flowers.
The beaded handles were made out of light brown fondant and I added brown food coloring and marbleized it and rolled it into small balls and wired them on to a piece of wire and inserted it into the cake to look like handles.
Needless to say the cake looked real. It was also a real girls birthday cake and was enjoyed by all.
