Homemade Mickey Mouse Hockey Cake

My best friends husband is a professional hockey player and this cake was made for their sons first birthday. That is where the “hockey” part of it comes in. To make this cake i used 3 10″ round cakes layered into a tier and two 7″ round cakes for the top tier. i then used red dye for the top layer of icing and blue dye for the bottom. I stuck with icing only because none of us are a fan of the taste of fondant though it is smoother looking. for the hockey designs on the bottom layer i melted milk chocolate candies and put them into some hockey molds i had purchased. I then put them in the fridge to harden and put them on the icing while it was still wet and sticky on the lower part of the cake since they were a bit heavy in weight. I did the same for the suckers on top. I used whit chocolate in the molds and placed sucker sticks in them before putting in the fridge to harden and placed them carefully on top. i used an icing pen in blue to write out the letters of Cadens name on the suckers. For the yellow icing design I used piping to add some more “mickey mouse” color. The little mickey mouses on the side of the cake were little candy decors that i had purchased at the cake store. This cake was a lot of fun to make and was very tasty!!!
