Cute Homemade Tinkerbell Birthday Cake

I borrowed a lot of great ideas from this website to create this cake. I used the Wilton flower cake mold and 6-inch cake pans to create the two tiers. The Tinkerbell fairies are a set from the Disney Store (which carries all kinds of these figurines… princesses, Toy Story, etc.). I wrapped wire around their legs to create the illusion of them flying over the cake. I tried to decorate each fairy’s petal according to her “talent” in the Tinkerbell movie. Fawn (animal talent) is hovering over a bluebird in a nest (a Peep), Rosetta (garden talent) is hovering over garden flowers, Iridessa (light talent) is hovering over a sunflower, Silvermist (water talent) is hovering over a waterfall, and Queen Clarion is just hovering over sparkles. Tinkerbell is on the top of the cake, which I made to look like a tree trunk by using a Wilton icing sculptor (just looks like a triangle with different edges). I made the top of the tree trunk look like grass with the Wilton grass icing tip. This cake was really fun to make — once I had the general idea, I just kind of winged it (no pun intended)!
