Coolest Hello Kitty Birthday Cake

For my daughter’s fifth birthday cake, she requested a Hello Kitty Birthday Cake. After searching the net, I decided I’d do her head. I used Wilton’s Animal cracker cake pan and baked a chocolate cake. I cut the ears into points and she was ready to go!

I dirty iced in cream cheese frosting and used butter cream and a star tip to make the texture. Butter cream eyes, nose and bow as well. I misjudged the area the bow would take up so it kind of runs into Hello Kitty’s eye! I cut black licorice in half to make the whiskers. Since there were a lot of party goers I wasn’t sure if that would be enough cake so I made up some chocolate cupcakes as well. Those were also chocolate and I used butter cream and a star tip to make it cohesive to the cake itself. I sprayed them with purple Wilton edible food color spray and sprinkled them with pink sugar crystals.

Needless to say she was so surprised and happy, she exclaimed “OH MOM It’s what I ever wanted!”. It sure wasn’t perfect but it was perfect to her.
